Position Summary
The Data Scientist Analyst – Revenue Management reports to the Manager, Revenue Management Systems Strategy & Optimization and is a member of the Revenue Management Systems Strategy & Optimization Team within IT Data. The team is dedicated to supporting the analytics and data science needs of the Revenue Management department and serves as the primary owner of the Revenue Management System.
The Data Science Analyst performs sophisticated analyses, including statistical analysis, in support of the data science and revenue management products developed by this team. They are responsible for Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA), including the development of insights for internal use as well as creating compelling visualizations and communicating findings effectively to technical and business audiences. They develop and maintain analytical support tools including dashboards and automated data-based workflows.
They will work with data scientists in a collaborative capacity, providing data-driven insights and business-based suggestions to guide the development of machine learning products. They will also work directly with analysts in the Revenue Management department to provide support related to both in-house and off-the-shelf data products, including the RMS. The Data Science Analyst will also support training and best practice development to empower the RM team’s day-to-day pricing and yield management effectiveness.
Essential Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Revenue Management department to translate their needs or challenges into analytical, machine learning or statistical problems.
- Support the development of data products through exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, and development of basic machine learning models.
- Leverage A/B testing techniques to uncover the underlying impact of RM strategies and external factors
- Develop new Business Intelligence tools and/or update existing BI tools to integrate model outputs/recommendations in revenue managers’ workflows
- Develop training and best practice processes for Revenue Management system users; study RMS intervention effectiveness and suggest workflow improvements as needed
- Effectively communicate models and analytical outputs with the RM team, IT Data Science, and additional Commercial IT partners
- Administer, maintain, and evaluate RM system business rules, settings, and data feeds
- Own and continuously improve critical RM data processes to enable market management strategies
- Effectively communicate experiments, models and analytics outputs with partners
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or a quantitative discipline; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant work experience
- One (1) years of relevant industry experience
- Proficiency in Python, R, or Structured Query Language (SQL)
- Data curiosity and motivation to develop data-driven solutions
- Ability to communicate their findings to both technical and non-technical audience
- Proficiency in statistical analysis and hypothesis testing
- Full proficiency in Excel
- Proficiency in Tableau or similar business intelligence tools
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Available for overnight travel (10%)
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test
- Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
- Authorization to work in the US is required, this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
- Advanced degree in computer science, statistics, business, or a quantitative discipline
- One (1) year analytics experience in either an airline or Revenue Management setting (airline RM preferred)
- One (1) year experience working in Data Science in an industry setting.
- Experience within the airline industry
- Experience with revenue management, dynamic availability, and/or continuous pricing systems
- Experience designing and conducting A/B testing and leveraging natural experiments where applicable
- Experience building machine learning models
- Experience working with data automations or orchestration tools such as Databricks Workflows

- Regular attendance and punctuality
- Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short notice
- Able to maintain a professional appearance
- When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
