Data Scientist and Automation Engineer, Senior

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist and Automation Engineer to support the Navy records management mission by designing advanced data workflows, scalable analytics solutions, and automated pipelines that strengthen data reliability and accelerate digital transformation.

 

In this role, you will apply deep experience in data science, scripting, and automation, including tools such as Python, PowerShell, and SQL, to modernize enterprise data processes, refactor legacy scripts, and implement secure, high‑performance solutions that enable large‑scale records management modernization. You Have: 

  • 10+ years of experience with data science, advanced analytics, or large‑scale data engineering within mission environments such as the DoD
  • 10+ years of experience developing automation and analytics solutions using scripting languages such as Python or PowerShell
  • Experience processing large data sets, optimizing ETL or ELT pipelines, and applying statistical or machine learning methods to mission‑critical workflows
  • Experience building and validating automation or analytics scripts with testing frameworks such as Pester or PyTest
  • Experience implementing secure coding practices, role‑based access, and compliance‑aligned automation
  • Experience supporting Agile delivery, backlog refinement, sprint planning, and cross‑functional collaboration
  • Ability to modernize legacy scripts or codebases for performance, reliability, and scalability
  • Ability to design and implement data‑driven dashboards, data quality checks, workflow improvements, and process automation tools
  • Secret clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree

 

Nice If You Have:   

  • Experience with Navy enterprise systems or records management modernization initiatives 
  • Experience as a data scientist, utilizing advanced data analytics across a larger enterprise environment
  • Experience implementing or supporting CI/CD pipelines, DevOps workflows, and automated test frameworks 
  • Experience with Python, R, ML, or AI analytics workflows supporting data‑driven decision‑making 
  • Experience with data cataloging, retention, archival, or metadata enrichment 
  • Experience building automation linked to M365, SharePoint, or Power Platform ecosystems 
  • Experience with Azure automation, GitHub Actions, or hybrid cloud scripting solutions 
  • Top Secret clearance
  • Master’s degree
  • MSFT Power Platform Certifications
