About the Role
The Master Data Manager will lead the Business Partner Master Data (BPMD), Bank Master Data (BMD), and Employee Master Data (EMD) operations for the Asia Pacific region. The role is responsible for ensuring service excellence, governance, compliance, project execution, and continuous improvement while managing a team of analysts and senior analysts. The incumbent will act as a key business partner to internal stakeholders, global process owners, and project teams to drive standardization, operational efficiency, and data quality across master data processes.
The role also supports large-scale transitions, transformation initiatives, system enhancements, and organizational growth while ensuring alignment with BASF's global standards and control requirements.

Key Responsibilities
- Service Delivery & Team Leadership
- Lead end-to-end delivery of Master Data services across assigned countries and legal entities.
- Manage operational performance against agreed SLAs, KPIs, quality metrics, and compliance requirements.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and guidance to analysts and senior analysts within the team.
- Monitor workload distribution and ensure optimum resource utilization.
- Drive issue resolution and stakeholder management for escalations and service delivery challenges.
- Ensure timely and accurate creation and maintenance of Business Partner, Bank, and Employee Master Data records.
- Project & Transition Management
- Lead internal, regional, and global transition projects within the Master Data domain.
- Manage project timelines, deliverables, risk mitigation plans, and stakeholder communications.
- Drive migration and stabilization activities during process transitions.
- Partner with Global Process Owners and regional stakeholders to implement process improvements and standardization initiatives.
- Ensure successful adoption of global policies, systems, and governance frameworks.
- Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with business partners, service recipients, and global stakeholders.
- Serve as an escalation point for complex Master Data and system-related issues.
- Collaborate with Finance, Procurement, HR, IT, and Compliance teams to support business objectives.
- Conduct periodic reviews with stakeholders to identify service improvement opportunities.
- Governance, Risk & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to BASF policies, internal controls, audit requirements, and statutory regulations.
- Support internal and external audits and drive closure of audit findings.
- Maintain process documentation, SOPs, and governance controls.
- Ensure regulatory compliance and data privacy requirements are consistently met.
- Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Lead process optimization, automation, and digital transformation initiatives.
- Monitor data quality and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Develop and track quality improvement metrics and reporting dashboards.
- Drive knowledge management, training programs, and capability building initiatives.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Business Continuity & Organizational Support
- Own and maintain Business Continuity Planning (BCP) readiness.
- Ensure backup planning and resource cross-skilling within the team.
- Support organizational growth initiatives and future service expansion plans.
- Perform additional responsibilities aligned with business and organizational priorities.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- Professional qualification in Finance (e.g. CA, CPA, etc.) or MBA or Master degree in finance / Accounting or related disciplines.
Working Experience & Skills:
- 12-18 years’ experience in Finance and Accounting
- Lead a team of 10+ employees
- Strong interpersonal skills to communicate to service recipients
- Excellent time management, good organization skills and multi-tasking skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and to excel under pressure for meeting any tight deadlines
- Self-motivated, hardworking, and with management skills
- Curiosity to learn, adaptability to changes and agile and ability to challenge status quo
Technical Skills
Knowledge of MS Office Applications, especially MS Word, Excel, and Power Point- Knowledge of SAP Systems
- Proficiency in English and other languages required
- Proficient knowledge and understanding on related processes
- Knowledge in programing or scripting are an added advantage but not mandatory
