Job Purpose
The Data Protection and FOI Compliance Manager will be the technical expert responsible for the management of general data protection obligations, ensuring that the Hospital is compliant with the relevant legislation.Key responsibilities include:
• The processing of all FOI, data protection, legal and PQ requests (as relevant to the role).• Advising the Hospital Executive on any data protection issues with regard to the exchange of information with other agencies and for any contracts or services.• Overseeing the management of the organisation’s data protection non-compliances and breaches.• To co-ordinate the implementation of the Data Protection quality improvement plan(s)• To provide management support within a function and to supervise staff within own remit

Location of post
Connolly Hospital (Ospidéal Uí Chonghaile Baile Bhlainséir|) and Surgical Hub Swords.
Connolly Hospital’s Quality and Safety Department provides service to all agreed service users governed by Connolly Hospital. This includes a new standalone Surgical Day Case Hub in Swords, Co Dublin.
There are currently 1 vacancies available in the Data Governance Department, Connolly Hospital:
1 permanent, whole-time position available.
A panel may be formed as a result of this campaign for Grade VII, Data Protection and FOI Compliance Manager in Connolly Hospital and the Surgical Hub Swords from which current and future, permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full or part-time duration may be filled.

Essential Criteria
Each candidate must:
Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition:
(a) Have satisfactory experience in an office under the HSE, TUSLA, other statutory health agencies, or a body which provides services on behalf of the HSE under Section 38 of the Health Act 2004 at a level not lower than that of Grade V (or equivalent)
and
Have not less than two years satisfactory experience either in that office or in an office at a level not lower than that of Grade V in the HSE, TUSLA, other statutory health agencies, or a body which provides services on behalf of the HSE under Section 38 of the Health Act 2004
Or
Have a minimum of 2 years’ managerial experience in a relevant role
and
(b) Must have relevant experience in FOI and data governance processes
and
(c) Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability, including a high standard of suitability, for the proper discharge of the office.
Health
A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.
Character
Each candidate for and any person holding the office must be of good character
Post Specific Requirements:
- Demonstrate depth and breadth of experience in Data Protection and/or Freedom of Information processes in line with relevant legislation
