THE ROLE
We are seeking a Senior Database Administrator (DBA) based in Panama to manage our company's database infrastructure and provide technical support and analysis. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing our databases, ensuring data security, and providing technical guidance to other members of the IT department. They will also be expected to stay up to date with emerging database trends and technologies and make recommendations on whether to adopt them.
Overall, the Senior DBA role will have a range of responsibilities related to data migration and remediation, database administration, technical analysis, and performance optimization. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with other teams within the company, evaluate and recommend new technologies, maintain proficiency in relevant programming languages and technologies, and provide technical guidance and support to other members of the IT department.
DUTIES
Management & Governance
- Own daytoday service desk performance: queue health, SLA attainment, backlog prevention, major incident response, problem management and change management within the scope of database administration and DevOps.
- Develop and maintain procedures, guides and other documentation as part of a high-quality knowledge base.
- Assist with the recruitment, onboarding, coaching, training and development of a team of IT Service Desk staff and DevOps Data Analysts.
- Collaborate with a cross-functional team to prioritize, plan and schedule DevOps work.
- Coordinate with regional/global IT teams to ensure consistent standards and effective escalations.
- Maintain and test IT Service Continuity (DR/BCP) runbooks for missioncritical services; ensure recovery time objectives (RTO/RPO) are met.
- Oversee capacity and performance management to anticipate demand and prevent degradation.
- Support internal/external audits, evidence collection, and remediation plans.
- Coordinate with regional and global teams, as well as third party service providers to ensure effective service and DevOps delivery.
- Define and report KPIs; present service health to senior stakeholders with clear narratives and action plans.
Data Migration and Remediation
- Migrate mass data from one database/application to another.
- Assist with the bulk remediation of data to ensure data quality.
- Create data mapping for all types of data fields in multiple applications.

Database Administration & Performance Optimisation
- Develop and maintain suitable database management procedures and related documentation.

Technical Analysis
- Collaborate with other teams within the company, including software developers, network engineers, and security teams, to ensure that the company's databases are functioning optimally and securely.
