Job overview: We’re looking for a motivated Junior Data Engineer to join our General Insurance Data Engineering Team. You’ll support the development and maintenance of robust data pipelines, ensuring seamless and reliable data delivery. Your contributions will play a key part in enabling the team to deliver valuable business insights, helping us drive smarter decision-making across AXA Insurance. Key responsibilities: Assist in building and maintaining reliable data pipelines to integrate data from various sources. Write simple SQL and Python scripts to support data extraction, transformation and loading processes. Perform data quality checks in implementing data solutions and following best practices. Participate in code reviews to learn standards and contribute to team knowledge. Document processes and contribute to team wikis and knowledge bases. Help ensure data operations run smoothly by monitoring scheduled jobs and alerting on failures. Collaborate with analysts and other team members to understand and deliver data requirements. Work arrangements: At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least two days a week (40%) away from home, moving to three days a week (60%) from December 2026. Away from home means attending the office, visiting clients or attending industry events. Your skills & experience: Degree or equivalent experience gained through an apprenticeship, internship, or relevant coursework and self-directed projects. Python skills suitable for data processing or scripting tasks. Fundamental knowledge of SQL for querying and manipulating data effectively. Genuine interest in data engineering with a proactive willingness to learn technical concepts. Familiarity with structured data formats and relational databases. Strong communication skills with a collaborative, team-oriented approach. Confident in asking for help when needed and enthusiastic about professional development.
