The Global Resource Planning (GRP) team supports timberland valuations for acquisitions and divestitures and provides analytical decision support for investment performance and reporting.

The Resource Analyst provides resource analysis and valuation support for prospective acquisitions and existing assets under management, including timber and carbon investment strategies. Working with other GRP team members, the Analyst supports investment analysis, harvest scheduling, and tactical and long-term resource modeling. The Analyst also reviews and assesses third-party investment models and external appraisals and provides analytical support for ad hoc requests from other groups within MIMTA.

This position supports commercial forest investment regions worldwide, with a primary focus on North America.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Support—and, over time, lead—the underwriting of timberland acquisitions, including investment strategies involving improved forest management carbon projects.

  • Assist with all phases of property acquisitions, as directed by the Director, Resource Planning, including investment modeling, due diligence, parcelization, and closing.

  • Assist with reviews of annual Long-Term Plans (LTPs), Comprehensive Property Management Plans (CPMPs), and third-party appraisals.

  • Prepare investment and educational materials for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Support MIMT accounting and portfolio management teams by providing information and analysis, including investment modeling, investment analysis, and value-added decision support.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in forestry or equivalent experience.

  • Graduate degree in a forestry-related discipline or business is highly desirable.

  • At least two years of experience in timber valuation, resource modeling, forest management planning, timberland investment planning, or forest operations.

  • Understanding of forest finance, discounted cash flow analysis, forest inventory, woodflow optimization, GIS, and desktop productivity applications.

  • Working knowledge of growth and yield models, harvest scheduling, silviculture, and forest operations.

  • General knowledge of forestry across commercial forest investment regions worldwide.

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.

  • Proficient writing skills, with the ability to prepare professional reports and management plans.

  • Collaborative, team-oriented approach.

  • Highly motivated and entrepreneurial mindset.

  • Strong verbal communication skills.

When you join our team:

  • We’ll empower you to learn and grow the career you want.

  • We’ll recognize and support you in a flexible environment where well-being and inclusion are more than just words.

  • As part of our global team, we’ll support you in shaping the future you want to see.

The role being advertised is an existing vacancy.
