Job Description

Customized Energy Solutions (CES) is seeking an experienced Senior Database Administrator to support and manage the organization's enterprise database environments across on-premises and cloud infrastructure. This role will serve as a technical lead for database operations, performance optimization, high availability, security, and modernization initiatives supporting critical business applications and data platforms.

The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on database administration experience, cloud platform exposure, and the ability to collaborate effectively with infrastructure, application development, and data services teams. Experience supporting modern analytics or data platforms such as Databricks, cloud-native database services, or data lake environments is strongly preferred.

This position is based in Ho Chi Minh City and may allow limited hybrid flexibility depending on business needs.

Key Responsibilities

Database Administration & Infrastructure

  • Administer, configure, monitor, and support enterprise database environments across on-premises and cloud infrastructure
  • Support installation, upgrades, patching, migrations, backup/recovery, and ongoing maintenance of database systems
  • Manage and support SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, or similar relational database platforms
  • Maintain database standards, operational procedures, and environment documentation

Performance Monitoring & Troubleshooting

  • Monitor database health, performance, storage, and availability
  • Perform database performance tuning, query optimization, indexing, and troubleshooting
  • Investigate and resolve database-related incidents, failures, and operational issues
  • Support proactive monitoring and alerting processes

High Availability, Security & Compliance

  • Support high availability and disaster recovery solutions including replication, failover clustering, Always On Availability Groups, and backup/recovery processes
  • Implement and maintain database security controls, user access management, encryption, auditing, and vulnerability remediation
  • Partner with infrastructure and security teams to maintain compliance and operational standards

Cloud & Data Platform Support

  • Support cloud-based database services and integrations across AWS, Azure, or GCP environments
  • Assist with database migrations, cloud modernization initiatives, and hybrid infrastructure support
  • Collaborate with data engineering and analytics teams supporting reporting, ETL/ELT pipelines, and data platform initiatives
  • Support modern analytics environments such as Databricks, cloud data warehouses, or data lake architectures where applicable

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Partner with application teams to improve database design, scalability, and operational efficiency
  • Participate in infrastructure modernization and automation initiatives
  • Contribute to documentation, operational runbooks, and knowledge-sharing activities
  • Stay current on database technologies, cloud platforms, and operational best practices

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5–8 years of database administration experience supporting enterprise production environments
  • Strong hands-on experience with one or more major database platforms such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle
  • Experience with database performance tuning, troubleshooting, backup/recovery, and high availability solutions
  • Experience supporting cloud platforms and cloud-based database services within AWS, Azure, or GCP environments
  • Familiarity with ETL/ELT processes, reporting systems, or data platform environments
  • Exposure to modern analytics platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, Azure Synapse, or similar technologies preferred
  • Understanding of database security, access management, auditing, and operational compliance practices
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively across infrastructure, development, and data services teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting hybrid cloud environments
  • Exposure to scripting or automation tools such as PowerShell, Python, or shell scripting
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting tools
  • Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Azure Database Administrator, AWS Database Specialty, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or Databricks certifications are a plus
