Your Team
The Clearing Risk Control, Data and Reporting team quantifies, analyses and reports clearing risks arising from ASX Clearing Houses acting as central counterparties for novated cash equities and exchange-traded derivatives. The team partners with other risk functions and delivery stakeholders to support risk activities in accordance with approved policies, standards and procedures.
Your responsibilities
Act as a senior data engineering specialist and trusted adviser across Clearing Risk, including:
- Lead data engineering workstreams across change-the-company, regulatory and risk transformation initiatives, from source ingestion through curated data products and reporting consumption.
- Engage stakeholder groups across Clearing Risk and translate business, risk and reporting requirements into scalable data engineering solutions.
- Review existing clearing risk data flows and reporting processes, identify control, reliability or efficiency gaps, and implement fit-for-purpose engineering improvements.
- Embed data governance requirements in engineering delivery, including approved data sources, critical data elements, metadata, lineage, ownership and KRI traceability.
- Design and maintain source-to-target mappings, ingestion pipelines, transformations, reconciliation logic and curated data models across source systems, cloud platforms and reporting outputs.
- Build and execute automated data tests covering schema, completeness, accuracy, reconciliation, transformation logic and end-to-end pipeline validation, while supporting UAT and evidence preparation.
- Design, build and maintain reusable data pipelines, curated data layers and consumption-ready datasets using SQL and Python, supporting Tableau, regulatory reporting and management information.
- Strengthen data platform controls through monitoring, logging, alerting, exception handling, technical documentation and controlled remediation processes.
- Support production regulatory, audit and self-identified issues by providing data lineage, technical analysis, control evidence and remediation delivery to agreed quality and schedule.
- Coach team members and promote engineering standards for coding, version control, documentation, testing, deployment, support and data governance.
Your experience and qualifications
Must have
- 5+ years’ experience in a data-focused role, with senior-level experience as a Data Engineer, Analytics Engineer, ETL Developer or equivalent.
- Strong experience in data modelling, source-to-target mapping, data lineage, pipeline design and integration of complex datasets.
- Significant experience implementing automated data testing, reconciliation, observability and validation across large-scale change initiatives.
- Proven delivery experience covering batch and file-based ingestion, data warehouses or cloud data platforms, ETL/ELT processes and reporting data products.
- Advanced SQL and Python capability for data extraction, transformation, pipeline automation, performance optimisation and technical problem-solving.
- Experience engineering governed and performant datasets for Tableau or comparable business intelligence and reporting platforms.
- Experience delivering complex data migrations and platform transformations, including impact assessment, data cleansing, cutover, reconciliation and production validation.
- Experience supporting business-critical production data, reporting or analytical processes, including scheduled monitoring, exception investigation, incident response, stakeholder communication and controlled recovery.
- Ability to analyse complex data, risk and integration problems, communicate technical options clearly and implement practical, supportable solutions.
- Engineering delivery and change management experience within a financial services, risk or regulated environment.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in computer science, data engineering, software engineering, information technology, quantitative or a related discipline.
Nice to have
- Experience in financial services with exposure to market, counterparty credit or liquidity risk data.
- Operational process knowledge within an exchange, clearing, settlement or trading environment.
- Understanding of central counterparty activities, clearing participants and Clearing House positions.
- Knowledge of ASX cash equities or derivatives products and the Australian financial regulatory environment.
- Experience providing technical documentation, lineage and control evidence for governance forums, audit or regulatory stakeholders.
- Experience coaching engineers or coordinating technical delivery across a small team.
