About the role

We file this job under Data Leadership, by the work the posting describes.

Data leaders run data teams or design how a company's data fits together. Managers hire, set priorities and answer for whether the data work pays off; architects choose the systems and the shape of the data.

Expect years of hands-on data work, experience leading people or projects, and the ability to explain tradeoffs to executives.

Unlike a senior engineer or analyst, most of a data leader's week goes to people, planning and decisions rather than building.

Company description At Spark Foundry we bring HEAT to brands, Higher Engagement, Affinity and Transaction. Engagement with consumers, customers and stakeholders, affinity with brands, and transactions, that materially impact our client’s businesses. Spark is uniquely positioned to deliver HEAT because we have an aligned set of beliefs that guide how we navigate a changing media landscape, a structure that is designed for total accountability and a repeatable methodology to bake continuous improvement into everything we do. In order to bring this vision to life, we seek alignment around key values from our talent. Diverse thinkers with diverse thinking—what we call Allsorts—are essential to tackle challenges through the lens of different disciplines and perspectives. To succeed at Spark, you must thrive on the belief that great ideas are only great if they work. It’s not enough to be new, cool, or interesting; our solutions must drive business results. You need to embrace both the art and the evidence—right and left brain, imagination and activation, insight and technology in the pursuit of big ideas that are forensically measured. If you are motivated by these values, we welcome you to apply to become a Sparkie. Overview #LI-AS 1 As the Analytics Director, you'll lead the analytics vision for key clients, setting the strategic direction, building future-focused roadmaps, and translating data into solutions. You'll work closely with agency leadership, media specialists, technology teams, and senior client stakeholders to deliver best-in-class work that is recognised both within the agency and across the industry. At Spark Foundry, we believe great analytics does more than measure performance, it shapes business decisions, fuels innovation, and creates a competitive advantage. We're looking for an Analytics Director to lead our analytics team and partner with some of Australia's most recognised brands. Success in this role requires a consultative mindset and strong strategic thinking. You'll be a trusted client partner, using analytics to solve complex business challenges, shape strategy, and drive business growth. While a strong understanding of analytics is essential, this role is focused on strategy, leadership, problem solving, and commercial impact rather than deep technical execution. Responsibilities What You'll Do Define and lead the long-term analytics strategy and roadmap for a high-profile portfolio of clients, ensuring measurement, data and insights are aligned to broader business and marketing objectives. Partner with clients and senior business leaders to solve their most important commercial challenges through data-led thinking, advanced analytics and strategic recommendations. Guide clients on how to maximise the impact of their media and marketing investments, helping answer critical questions around where to invest, when to invest and how to drive stronger business outcomes. Work closely with media, strategy, activation and client leadership teams to ensure analytics is embedded in planning, implementation and measurement across every stage of the client journey. Develop deep partnerships with senior client stakeholders, becoming a trusted consultant who can navigate complex business problems and influence strategic decision making. Provide a high-value consulting layer over analytics outputs, transforming data into actionable recommendations that drive measurable growth. Shape compelling data stories that clearly communicate why the work matters, what insights have been uncovered and what actions clients should take next. Scope and direct advanced analytics projects that answer meaningful business, marketing and media questions while delivering clear value to clients. Lead teams in uncovering insights from complex data sets and translating findings into practical business solutions and growth opportunities. Identify opportunities to improve marketing effectiveness, customer understanding and media performance through innovative analytical approaches. Contribute meaningfully to new business pitches by demonstrating how analytics, measurement and business intelligence can solve client challenges and create competitive advantage. Lead and inspire a team of analytics specialists ( with 2 direct reports) to deliver best-in-class work across all media channels and client portfolios. Qualifications What You'll Bring Experience leading analytics, strategy, digital, insights, marketing effectiveness or marketing technology functions. Strong commercial and consultative mindset, with proven success partnering with senior stakeholders and clients Deep understanding of marketing analytics, experimentation, measurement frameworks and statistical methodologies. Experience translating analytical data into a fully formed media strategy from concept to delivery Ability to derive actionable insights from data and communicate them clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. Strong leadership capability with a passion for developing teams and building future talent. A naturally curious, solutions-focused approach with exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
