Analytics Intern – Summer 2027

Location: Atlanta, Georgia (Buckhead)

Duration: May 17, 2027 – July 30, 2027

Department: Data & Analytics

About Us

Hive Financial Systems is a fintech company expanding financial inclusion through AI-driven lending technology. Our multi-portfolio loan management platform powers multiple lending partners serving tens of thousands of active consumers, building the infrastructure that makes responsible lending possible for underserved markets.

Role Overview

We’re looking for a curious, detail-oriented Analytics Intern to join our Data & Analytics team for the summer. You’ll work with real lending data, including applications, approvals, payments, and delinquency, to answer business questions, build reporting, and support decisions that affect thousands of borrowers. You’ll partner with Engineering, QA, Product, and Operations, and you’ll finish the summer with projects you can point to.

What You’ll Do

  • Write and run SQL queries against our Azure SQL / SQL Server and Microsoft Fabric lakehouse to answer business questions, investigate issues, and build reports.
  • Build and maintain dashboards in Hex covering metrics such as the application-to-funded funnel, payment success rates, and delinquency trends.
  • Use Python (pandas, Jupyter/Hex notebooks) to clean, explore, and summarize data, and present findings to stakeholders in plain language.
  • Learn core lending metrics (vintages and cohorts, days-past-due buckets, roll rates, first-payment default) and apply them in your analysis.
  • Help measure borrower communication and marketing campaigns, including tracking results and supporting A/B test analysis.
  • Gather requirements from business stakeholders and translate them into clear specs and acceptance criteria for the development team.
  • Support data quality: flag anomalies, document data definitions in our data catalog, and help validate pipeline outputs.
  • Assist with vendor data and reporting relationships.

Tools You’ll Use

SQL (T-SQL), Microsoft Fabric / Azure Synapse, Hex, Python, Git / Azure DevOps, Hex, Claude, Jira and Confluence, and AI assistants for analysis and documentation.

Qualifications

  • Junior, senior, or master’s student in Information Systems, Data Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, Finance, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of SQL (SELECT, JOIN, WHERE, GROUP BY). Window functions or CTEs are a plus.
  • Some exposure to Python or R for data analysis.
  • Familiarity with relational database concepts.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain numbers to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with a BI tool (Hex, Power BI, Tableau, or similar).
  • Interest in fintech, consumer lending, or credit risk.
  • Exposure to cloud data platforms (Azure, Fabric, Snowflake, Databricks).
  • Basic statistics, such as distributions, hypothesis testing, and A/B testing.

What You’ll Gain

  • Hands-on experience with an enterprise lending data platform and real business problems.
  • Practical skills in SQL, Python, BI, and business analysis.
  • Mentorship from experienced engineering and analytics professionals.
  • A portfolio-ready project presented to company leadership at the end of the summer.

REQUIRED:

In a 60–90 second video, tell us about a time you used data to figure something out. It can be from a class, a job, a club, or your personal life. What was the question, what did you look at, and what did you learn? Then tell us one thing about consumer lending or fintech you’re curious to learn this summer.

No editing or production needed. Just record yourself talking, phone quality is fine. We want to hear how you think, not a polished script.  Send this to recruiting@hivefs.com
