About the role

We file this job under Data Leadership, by the work the posting describes.

Data leaders run data teams or design how a company's data fits together. Managers hire, set priorities and answer for whether the data work pays off; architects choose the systems and the shape of the data.

Expect years of hands-on data work, experience leading people or projects, and the ability to explain tradeoffs to executives.

Unlike a senior engineer or analyst, most of a data leader's week goes to people, planning and decisions rather than building.

About Lendable

Lendable is on a mission to build the world's best technology to help people get credit and save money. We're building one of the world’s leading fintech companies and are off to a strong start:

  • One of the UK’s most exciting unicorns with a team of over 800 people

  • Among the fastest-growing tech companies in the UK

  • Profitable since 2017

  • Backed by top investors including Balderton Capital and Goldman Sachs

  • Loved by customers with the best reviews in the market (4.9 across 10,000s of reviews on Trustpilot)

So far, we’ve rebuilt the Big Three consumer finance products from scratch: loans, credit cards and car finance. We get money into our customers’ hands in minutes instead of days.

We’re growing fast, and there’s a lot more to do: we’re going after the two biggest Western markets (UK and US) where trillions worth of financial products are held by big banks with dated systems and painful processes.

Join us if you want to

  1. Take ownership: you are trusted to make decisions that drive a material impact on the direction and success of Lendable from day 1

  2. Work in small teams of exceptional people: Lendies are relentlessly resourceful. We challenge the status quo to solve problems and find smarter solutions

  3. Build the best technology in-house: we use new data sources, machine learning and AI to make machines do the heavy lifting

Zable is the fastest growing credit card in the UK and is revolutionising the credit card industry by making financial tools accessible, intuitive, and empowering. Whether they're building their credit score or looking to save money through refinancing or market-leading offers, we help customers meet their spending and borrowing needs sustainably.

We’re looking for an analytical, commercially-minded Associate Director to own our prime lending strategy and help us scale it fast. You'll own how we price, market and grow our prime business, build and lead a high-calibre analytics team, and put the customer at the heart of every decision.

You’ll operate in a fast-paced environment where ideas matter more than hierarchy, and execution beats bureaucracy. Your work will directly shape who we serve, how we grow, and how we deliver sustainable value.

Your impact

  • Own the prime strategy & economics: Set the vision and roadmap for prime, define the KPIs that matter and own the targets for growth, balances and risk-adjusted returns. Track the portfolio at a granular sub-segment level with Credit Risk, and act fast when things move off plan. Relentless drive to grow the product sustainably, with the energy to bring others with you.

  • Drive pricing & promotions: Own APRs, promotional offers (balance transfer, purchase, etc.), cashback, and fees. Use experimentation and scenario modelling to find the right balance of customer value, growth and profitability, with fair value under Consumer Duty built in.

  • Model-driven strategy: Partner with Data Science to bring advanced models into pricing and acquisition decisions, turning predictive insight into measurable commercial results.

  • Fuel growth: Partner with Growth to win prime customers across all channels. Build deep insight into campaign and funnel performance, and keep finding ways to improve cost and conversion.

  • Stay ahead of the market: Know prime customers and competitors inside out, working with Product to keep our proposition sharp and adapting the product to meet customer needs.

  • Influence & execution: Drive decisions with the senior leadership team through clear, concise, data-backed proposals. Value the strength of ideas over ego or hierarchy, and roll up your sleeves to turn strategy into action. Take ownership, solve problems and make sure things get done.

  • Build & lead an exceptional team: Hire and lead an exceptional team, from Analyst through to Senior Manager. Build a culture where people challenge the status quo, collaborate across teams, act quickly and push for better outcomes. Use AI to move faster, deepen analysis and raise the bar on what the team can deliver.

Your experience

  • 8+ years in pricing, strategy, analytics or commercial roles within unsecured lending

  • 5+ years leading analytical teams, ideally including managers

  • Proven track record of owning and growing a portfolio, product or P&L

  • Deep understanding of pricing, credit risk and lending unit economics

  • Strong analytical skills, ideally SQL and Python

  • AI-first mindset, radically increasing the pace at which ideas can be sized, tested and implemented

  • Proven ability to influence senior leaders and inspire teams to deliver ambitious outcomes

Life at Lendable

  • Winning team: the opportunity to scale up one of the world’s most successful fintech companies

  • Flexible working: flexible approach tailored to each role. Hybrid roles require three days in-office weekly; fully remote roles include regular opportunities for in-person connection through socials and off-sites

  • Socials & connection: opportunities and events to come together, socialise, and get to know each other beyond the office walls

  • Health coverage: support for your physical and mental wellbeing, including private health cover

  • Retirement & savings: long-term financial wellbeing through retirement savings plans

  • Employee referral programme: earn a competitive bonus when you refer successful new team members

  • Office meals & snacks: enjoy a fully stocked kitchen, plus complimentary lunches prepared by in-house chefs on in-office days at select locations

  • Sustainable commuting: cycle-to-work and electric vehicle salary sacrifice schemes available in select locations
