New Analyst postings at the employers we follow are up 19% over the last 5 weeks compared with the 5 before.

Weekly new Analyst postings at the same employers, from the week of August 17 to the week of October 26. The fewest in a week was 965, the most 1,388, and the latest week had 1,365.

About the role

We file this job under Analyst, by the work the posting describes.

Analysts answer business questions with data. They pull numbers with SQL, build reports and dashboards, and explain what changed and why to the people making decisions.

Most postings ask for SQL, spreadsheets, a dashboard tool such as Tableau or Power BI, and clear writing.

Unlike a data scientist, an analyst mostly explains what happened rather than building models that predict what will.

·       Translate complex analysis into concise narratives and recommendations for senior and non-technical stakeholders.

2. Performance Measurement and Decision Support

·       Contribute to dashboards, scorecards and standard reports covering brand performance, customer engagement and omnichannel outcomes.

·       Help define consistent, accurate and decision-relevant KPIs across therapeutic areas and functions.

·       Monitor performance, surface exceptions and opportunities, and connect insights to actions and decision forums.

·       Improve the repeatability and efficiency of recurring reporting and insight generation with technology and analytics teams.

3. Advanced Analytics and Synthesis

·       Use and interpret outputs such as segmentation, forecasting, scenario analysis, predictive models and resource or spend optimization.

·       Integrate evidence from data science, market research and forecasting into a coherent business perspective.

·       Identify relevant internal and external data sources and assess fitness for the business question.

·       Apply analytical judgment and data storytelling to convert outputs into recommendations, trade-offs and next actions.

·       Collaborate with Data Enablement, Data Strategy, Data Science, Market Research, Forecasting, Omnichannel and Business Technology Partners.

·       Flag data gaps or quality issues to accountable owners and stewards, supporting compliant data use.

·       Share methods and reusable assets through the international BIA community; support data literacy and mentor junior colleagues where applicable.

5. Adoption, Value and Continuous Improvement

·       Drive integration of insights into business routines and decision forums, tracking usage and impact where appropriate.

·       Explore approved uses of AI, machine learning, GenAI and agent-based solutions to accelerate high-quality insight generation in a fast and scalable manner.

·       Continuously improve analytical methods, documentation and reusable insight assets.

Qualifications and Experience

·       Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Statistics, Data Science or a related discipline; a master's degree or other relevant advanced degree is preferred.

·       Experience in business analytics, commercial analytics, market insights, data analysis, strategy consulting or a related field. Experience in pharmaceutical, healthcare or another complex, regulated industry is beneficial but not required.

·       Life sciences, healthcare, pharmaceutical or therapeutic area background combined with strong analytical capability is highly valued.

·       Experience supporting commercial, marketing or sales decisions in a complex environment.

·       Strong analytical and visualization skills using Excel, Power BI; Python or R knowledge is beneficial.

·       AI literacy and practical experience, or strong ability to build or configure AI-supported agents and workflows that accelerate insight generation, synthesis and business recommendations.

·       Ability to structure ambiguous questions, interpret complex data and translate findings into practical recommendations.

·       Strong problem-solving, structured thinking, communication and data storytelling skills, with the ability to translate ambiguity and complex analysis into clear recommendations that influence decisions and drive alignment across senior business and technical stakeholders.

·       Ability to collaborate and influence across business and technical teams without formal authority; curiosity and learning agility.

·       Fluency in the local language and professional English for international collaboration. Spanish fluency is a plus.

Measures of Success

·       Business decisions are demonstrably informed by relevant evidence, insights and recommendations.

·       Analyses, dashboards and insight products are timely, high quality and used in decision forums.

·       Stakeholders recognize the clarity, relevance and actionability of recommendations.

·       Recurring reporting and insight generation become more repeatable, efficient and reusable.
