Job Duties: We are creating a new leadership role that brings analytics, data, and AI together under one division, and we are looking for the right person to lead it. The Chief Data and AI Officer (CDAIO) works across the university to champion data and AI in ways that reflect our values and mission. The CDAIO leads the transformation of data into strategic insights and ensures the ethical and responsible use of AI and analytics. As an institution, we have invested in funding for Amazon Web Services, databases, ETL software, and AI tools and AI servers. We are looking to capitalize and build on this investment with this new position. Responsibilities include establishing vision, governance, and operational framework for data and AI, fostering a data driven culture, and evolving technological capabilities to meet university priorities. The role spans institutional strategy and effectiveness, enterprise analytics on AWS and Tableau, and applied AI across operations. This role will create and champion a vision that turns UWGB’s priorities into initiatives that drive operational effectiveness and enable a campus that is curious about AI and data. This role will lead enterprise data and AI direction, including platform, governance, and investment priorities, while working closely with stakeholders across the organization to ensure these decisions are made with a collaborative process. Success in the first 12 to 24 months means establishing a trusted data, analytics, and AI foundation that improves decision-making and automates manual processes.

New Data Leadership postings at the employers we follow are up 7% over the last 5 weeks compared with the 5 before.
Each bar is one week of new postings. The darkest bars are the last 5 weeks.
Counted from the hiring pages we’ve followed for at least five weeks, so employers we add don’t look like growth. Updated weekly.
We file this job under Data Leadership, by the work the posting describes.
Data leaders run data teams or design how a company's data fits together. Managers hire, set priorities and answer for whether the data work pays off; architects choose the systems and the shape of the data.
Expect years of hands-on data work, experience leading people or projects, and the ability to explain tradeoffs to executives.
Unlike a senior engineer or analyst, most of a data leader's week goes to people, planning and decisions rather than building.
The government has no code for data leaders, so these figures are for the closest group, computer and information systems managers, which includes data processing and data operations managers.
