We file this job under Data Scientist, by the work the posting describes.
Data scientists use statistics and models to answer harder questions, such as whether a change worked, what demand will look like next quarter, or which customers are likely to leave.
Postings usually ask for Python or R, SQL, statistics, experiment design and common machine learning methods.
Unlike an ML engineer, a data scientist's main output is often an analysis or a first model, not software running inside a product.

We are looking for a Competitive Data Scientist (Kaggle) with strong expertise in data science, machine learning, statistical modeling, and applied mathematics. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience participating in data science and machine learning competitions, such as Kaggle, DrivenData, or similar platforms.
In this role, you will use your competition experience, analytical thinking, and programming skills to design challenging, well-defined coding and data science tasks that require rigorous reasoning rather than plausible or superficial answers. You will build reproducible environments, develop verified reference solutions, and create robust evaluation mechanisms to assess the correctness and quality of AI-generated solutions.
This opportunity is ideal for individuals who enjoy solving complex technical problems, experimenting with different approaches, debugging code, and evaluating the performance of AI coding systems.
