About the role

We file this job under Data Leadership, by the work the posting describes.

Data leaders run data teams or design how a company's data fits together. Managers hire, set priorities and answer for whether the data work pays off; architects choose the systems and the shape of the data.

Expect years of hands-on data work, experience leading people or projects, and the ability to explain tradeoffs to executives.

Unlike a senior engineer or analyst, most of a data leader's week goes to people, planning and decisions rather than building.

  • Own technical decisions for assigned engagements and resolve design conflicts across workstreams, integrations, security requirements, and delivery dependencies.
  • Build and validate proofs of concept, prototypes, reusable accelerators, reference architectures, and implementation templates that move data and AI solutions toward production-ready outcomes.
  • Design practical AI-enabled solution patterns, including retrieval-augmented generation, vector search, embedding pipelines, prompt orchestration, semantic search, and AI-enabled analytics workflows.
  • Conduct architecture and peer reviews; own solution-level technical quality and confirm deliverables align with requirements, architecture decisions, project scope, and the Statement of Work.
  • Monitor technical delivery against scope, schedule, effort, and budget; proactively address or escalate risks and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support discovery, business-case development, estimates, assumptions, proposals, SOWs, quotations, presentations, and implementation approaches in partnership with account and presales teams.
  • Serve as the primary trusted technical advisor for project stakeholders and communicate effectively across customer, delivery, sales, and partner teams.
