About the role

We file this job under Data Engineer, by the work the posting describes.

Data engineers build and run the pipelines that copy data out of apps and outside services into a warehouse or lake, and fix them when a source changes or a load fails.

Expect SQL, Python, a cloud platform, a scheduler such as Airflow, and often tools for large data such as Spark or Kafka.

An analytics engineer works one step later, turning the raw data a data engineer lands into clean tables people can query.

Responsibilities

Ready To Build the Data Pipelines and Models That Power Analytics Across a Complex Healthcare TPA Platform?

Why This Role Matters

Healthcare TPA data is messy, high-stakes, and consequential — claims, enrollment, provider, and finance data that has to be accurate, timely, and compliant before it can power any meaningful analytics. This role designs and builds the pipelines, data models, and infrastructure that make that possible for the Enterprise Reporting and Analytics team. You work end-to-end: from ingestion through transformation, stakeholder collaboration, and automated reporting — owning projects from start to finish.

What You'll Actually Do

Design and build scalable ETL/ELT pipelines: Develop pipelines that ingest and transform data from claims, enrollment, provider, finance, and other sources into analytics-ready formats.

Build data models and data marts: Partner with Data Analysts, Data Scientists, and business stakeholders to implement dimensional models and data marts that support BI, reporting, and machine learning initiatives.

Ensure data quality and integrity: Build automated validation, auditing, and monitoring processes that catch data issues before they reach stakeholders.

Optimize warehouse infrastructure: Maintain and improve the enterprise analytics data warehouse — tuning pipeline and compute performance and managing storage efficiency.

Support data integration projects: Manage data exchanges with clients, carriers, vendors, and regulatory bodies — ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with healthcare regulations.

Write production SQL and Python: Develop SQL and Python programs to access, clean, and transform data prior to analysis and reporting.

Build reporting automation: Develop automation solutions for operational workflows and reporting that reduce manual effort and improve consistency.

Conduct ad hoc analysis: Support cross-functional partners in Product, Reporting, Analytics, and Account Management with targeted data analysis and findings communicated in formats aligned to client reporting standards.

Manage project workflows: Use Smartsheet, Microsoft, and Atlassian toolsets to keep projects, milestones, and documentation organized and on schedule.
