Job Description We are looking for a Data Scientist, SMAI OI (AI Solutions Development) who enjoys learning, building practical applications, and solving real-world data and software problems. In this role, you will develop AI-enabled applications that help engineering and manufacturing teams access information, analyze operational data, retrieve knowledge, and make better decisions. You will combine AI technologies with software engineering, data integration, and user-focused application design to deliver solutions that are useful in real working environments. The ideal candidate is a hands-on builder who can work across AI, software, data, and business needs. You should be comfortable turning unclear problems into practical solutions, working with users and engineering teams, learning new technologies, and improving solutions based on feedback. Key Responsibilities * Build AI assistants, natural-language interfaces, and other AI-enabled applications. * Develop knowledge retrieval and document question-answering solutions using modern AI technologies. * Integrate AI applications with databases, APIs, documents, reports, logs, and other enterprise data sources. * Develop backend services, workflows, dashboards, and user interfaces that support data-driven decision making. * Analyze structured and unstructured data to identify patterns, risks, opportunities, and useful insights. * Work with users and cross-functional engineering teams to understand needs and deliver practical solutions. * Translate business or operational problems into clear requirements, solution approaches, and actionable development plans. * Build prototypes and improve them into maintainable, scalable, and user-friendly applications. * Communicate solution designs, assumptions, limitations, and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical audiences. * Consider application quality, maintainability, security, performance, user experience, and operational supportability. * Stay current with AI technologies, software frameworks, development tools, and relevant business domains. ## Required Qualifications Qualified candidates will have: * Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Information Management, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; equivalent practical experience may be considered. * Hands-on experience building software applications, data-driven applications, backend services, APIs, or full-stack solutions. * Strong programming experience in Python and working knowledge of SQL. * Experience working with databases, APIs, documents, reports, logs, or other structured and unstructured data. * Experience developing AI-enabled applications, or strong interest and demonstrated ability to learn and apply AI technologies. * Ability to break down complex or ambiguous problems into actionable steps. * Strong verbal and written communication skills. * Ability to work effectively with users, engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders. * Strong ownership, accountability, curiosity, and willingness to learn. * Ability to work on multiple tasks and make progress with minimal supervision. ## Preferred Qualifications Experience in the following areas is a plus: * Large language model or generative AI application development. * AI assistants, chatbots, document question answering, or knowledge retrieval. * Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), embeddings, vector databases, or semantic search. * Prompt engineering, tool calling, agent workflows, or structured AI outputs. * Full-stack web development or modern frontend / backend frameworks. * RESTful APIs, backend services, data pipelines, or enterprise system integration. * Experience with data visualization, dashboarding, or other user-facing ways of presenting data and insights. * Cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP. * Git, Docker, CI/CD, monitoring, logging, or production support. * Automated testing, testable feature design, or a DevOps mindset. * Manufacturing, semiconductor, industrial, engineering, or other complex enterprise domain experience. * Familiarity with digital twin, simulation, optimization, or decision-support concepts. * Experience using AI-assisted development tools to improve coding, troubleshooting, testing, documentation, or productivity. ## Technologies and Practices * Python and SQL * Generative AI / LLM application development * RAG / knowledge retrieval * Vector databases / embeddings / semantic search * AI assistants / chat interfaces / tool calling * REST APIs and enterprise data integration * Backend and full-stack application development * Data processing and data visualization * Git, Docker, CI/CD, and cloud platforms * Automated testing, monitoring, logging, and application support ## Ideal Candidate Profile The ideal candidate is an AI solution builder who can connect data, AI capabilities, software applications, and user needs to deliver practical results.
