Database Administrator (Admin cum development role)- Azure, MS SQL

Job Description

You will be responsible for:-

 

• Monitor and maintain Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Azure SQL Database environments.
• Ensure database availability, performance, reliability, and security.
• Perform database performance tuning and optimize SQL queries, indexes, stored procedures, and database objects to improve application performance.
• Troubleshoot database-related incidents and ensure timely resolution.
• Support application teams in resolving database performance and connectivity issues.
• Manage database users, roles, permissions, and access requests.
• Implement and maintain database security standards and compliance requirements.
• Investigate and resolve blocking, deadlocks, long-running queries, and locking issues.
• Participate in Incident, Problem, and Change Management processes.
• Support application and development teams in resolving database-related issues and performance concerns.
• Implement and manage Azure SQL High Availability and Disaster Recovery (HA/DR) solutions, including Failover Groups (FOG), Geo-Replication, Backup & Recovery,

and performance monitoring across Azure SQL environments.

 

Required Technical Skills: -

 

• B. Tech/MCA or equivalent qualification.
• 3-5 years of hands-on Database Administration experience.
• Strong experience with:
  • Microsoft SQL Server (Mandatory)
  • MySQL
  • PostgreSQL
  • Azure SQL Database / Azure SQL Managed Instance (Mandatory)
     
• Strong knowledge of:
  • SQL Query Writing (Mandatory)
  • SQL, T-SQL, MySQL SQL, and PostgreSQL SQL
  • Query Performance Tuning and Query Optimization
  • Stored Procedures, Functions, Views, and Triggers
  • Index Management and Execution Plan Analysis
  • Database Security and User Management
  • Database Monitoring and Troubleshooting
  • Blocking, Deadlock, and Long-Running Query Analysis

 

• Azure Database Skills:
  • Azure SQL Database Administration and Managed Instance
  • Azure SQL Failover Groups (FOG).
  • Azure Monitor and Performance Monitoring Tools

 

• Familiarity with Azure database environments and monitoring tools.
• Familiarity with programming languages like Java
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think analytically.

• Good to Have Skill:
  • MongoDB / NoSQL Databases
  • Liquibase
  • PostgreSQL

• Have the ability to work in teams and take instruction from a variety of people.
• Polite and approachable manners when liaising with people both internally and externally.
• Show a willingness to listen and learn.
