As a Data Technician Trainee at ABB, you will join our engineering department and work with the System 800xA automation platform. The system supports industrial production and critical infrastructure, where availability, security and energy efficiency are essential.

You will take part in projects from start to finish and gain practical experience with customer dialogue, documentation and testing. Your work will combine hands-on technical tasks with structured follow-up to ensure reliable, high-quality solutions. From your first day, you will have a mentor and experienced colleagues who are ready to support your learning. We want you to develop through meaningful assignments and gradually take on more responsibility.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Working with virtualisation using VMware.
  • Servicing and updating existing automation systems.
  • Installing and configuring ABB System 800xA HMI solutions.
  • Supporting system hardening, cybersecurity and IT security for critical infrastructure.
  • Participating in projects, customer dialogue and testing from start to finish.
  • Documenting and testing your work to help ensure high-quality customer deliveries.

Qualifications for the role

  • You are enrolled in the Data Technician programme with a specialisation in cybersecurity or infrastructure.
  • You are curious about virtualisation, Windows, domains, Active Directory, network topology and security.
  • You are motivated to learn and develop your technical skills.
  • You are comfortable taking responsibility and moving tasks forward.
  • You seek input from the right colleagues when you need knowledge to complete a task.
  • You can plan your work and deliver as agreed.
  • You understand how to match the quality and scope of a solution to the task.
