Job Description:

Are you ready to launch your career and make an impact on real-world projects from day one?

At Leonardo UK Helicopter Division, we have a fantastic new opportunity for a Digital and Data Graduate within the Big Data function, to be part of something bigger—shaping innovation, advancing technology, and enhancing global safety.

We are committed to developing our graduates into leading technical or business professionals, and as such we will also support you through your preferred route for professional development.

Our 2 year Graduate Programme gives you the opportunity to work on exciting and challenging projects alongside subject matter experts.

On joining, you will receive a starting salary of £34,000 per annum, plus a £1,000 welcome bonus. You’ll also be eligible for a £1,000 exit bonus upon successful completion of the programme. In addition, you may be eligible for a Temporary Accommodation Allowance (TAA), subject to specific criteria.

We encourage you to spend at least four days each week on site to integrate with your team and maximise your learning experience.

During the programme, you will:

Start with an Induction into Leonardo, as well as your placement area. You will be provided with a wealth of development opportunities in both virtual and applied working environments.  On our programme you will engage with challenging and exciting project work and deliver innovative business or technical solutions as part of a team of subject matter experts.  Throughout the programme you will receive coaching and support from your team to achieve your objectives as well as your personal development goals.  We are committed to developing our graduates into leading technical or business professionals.

At Leonardo we value individuals who continuously demonstrate a dedication to their personal development, and this is no different for our graduates. We have partnered with Coursera & LinkedIn online training platforms that offers around 4,000 courses you can sign up to, according to your professional and personal interests. Self-directed learning thrives in this environment.

As a Digital and Data Graduate, you will…

Develop your knowledge and skills across placements, typically consisting of 3-6 month rotations across all the Digital areas within Big Data and beyond. The graduate scheme will give you the opportunity to build on your technical knowledge and also develop soft skills through opportunities which a direct entry position may not be able to. In conjunction with the Big Data Management Team and the Early Careers Team, you will have the opportunity to input into the design of your training scheme to include placements which give an insight into the complete digital landscape.

As part of the digital team, you will learn about all aspects of the data and digital landscape in Leonardo to include; developing in the Data Platform with development operations, Data Engineering, Advanced Analytics, Data Science, Software development, data governance, working with Helicopter and business derived data and applications. As part of your programme you will be expected to own and deliver digital products to internal and external customers.

What you’ll bring

Minimum 2:1 Bachelors in a Computer Science/ Mathematic/ Data Science/ Engineering/ Economics related subject.

We are open to candidates who have a degree with significant analytics element as part of the course. You will also need a curious mindset, and a genuine passion for building a digital career.

Desired skills

  • Master’s degree in data analytics based subject area
  • Motivation and confidence to work in a dynamic environment
  • Works well in a multi-disciplined, cross-functional team
  • Good communications skills at all levels (written & verbal)

Security Clearance

At Leonardo, many of our roles are subject to security and export control restrictions set by UK Government Security requirements and customer obligations.  As a result, and in line with the UK Government Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) requirements, all successful applicants will be asked to provide evidence of identity, eligibility to work in the UK, criminal record declaration information and employment and/or education history verification for the previous five years.

For staff operating in more sensitive posts, there is an additional range of personnel security controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NSV).  As part of this process, a range of factors may be considered, including an individual's background, travel history, nationality, previous nationalities held and other information relevant to the vetting assessment.

To be eligible for National Security Vetting at SC level, applicants will generally be expected to have continuously resided in the UK for the previous five years. For DV clearance, this is typically ten years.  In some circumstances, time spent overseas may be accepted, with additional overseas checks.  Additional vetting requirements may apply upon appointment.
