About the role

We file this job under Data Leadership, by the work the posting describes.

Data leaders run data teams or design how a company's data fits together. Managers hire, set priorities and answer for whether the data work pays off; architects choose the systems and the shape of the data.

Expect years of hands-on data work, experience leading people or projects, and the ability to explain tradeoffs to executives.

Unlike a senior engineer or analyst, most of a data leader's week goes to people, planning and decisions rather than building.

Director, People Analytics & AI – Denver, Colorado

We’re looking for a strategic, forward-thinking leader to head our People Analytics & AI team. You’ll combine data and AI to shape how Western Union understands its workforce and how employees experience HR. Your work will turn workforce data into insights that guide talent strategy, workforce planning and organizational effectiveness. You’ll also apply AI to make HR simpler, faster and more personal for every employee. You’ll work where data, technology and people meet, and you’ll help HR deliver measurable business outcomes.

Role Responsibilities

  • Set and lead the vision for people analytics and AI in HR, with a focus on two outcomes: sharper workforce insights and a better employee experience.
  • Translate complex data into clear stories that influence executive decisions and HR policy.
  • Use AI-powered tools, such as Copilot agents and self-service assistants, to change how employees get HR support, so they get fast, accurate answers when they need them.
  • Design, govern, and scale HR AI agents across the enterprise, setting the standards for how they are built, evaluated, and responsibly deployed.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of HR AI products and agents, from use-case design and testing through launch, adoption, and continuous improvement.
  • Working knowledge of retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), prompt and context design, agent orchestration, evaluation and integration with enterprise systems such as Workday and ServiceNow
  • Platform-agnostic judgment: experience with end to end enterprise agent development with the ability to assess best platform to deliver solutions.
  • Build data and AI skills across HR and lead the change management that drives adoption of new tools and ways of working.
  • Manage and develop a team of 4 direct reports

Role Requirements

  • 10+ years in analytics, data science, AI, product analytics, or an adjacent discipline.
  • 3–5+ years leading teams or major cross-functional programs.
  • Demonstrated experience moving analytics/AI products from idea through implementation and adoption.
  • Strong grounding in advanced analytics, including predictive modeling and employee listening and sentiment data.
  • Hands-on knowledge of generative AI and agent platforms (e.g., Microsoft Copilot), data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and HRIS platforms (e.g., Workday).
  • History of solid understanding of data governance, responsible AI and global data privacy requirements.
  • Proven high integrity and discretion in handling sensitive employee data.
