About the role

We file this job under Data Operations, by the work the posting describes.

Data operations staff do the day-to-day work of getting data processed correctly: loading and checking files, moving records between systems, fixing errors and following set procedures.

Expect Excel, some SQL, close attention to detail, and knowledge of the particular systems the company runs.

Data governance sets the rules for the data; data operations does the hands-on work of processing it and keeping it moving.

At Alstom, we build what millions of people depend on every day: rail transportation systems that cannot afford to fail. We are more than 85,000 colleagues worldwide, creating the industry's broadest portfolio of high-speed trains, metros, trams, maintenance services, and integrated systems.

More Than a Job: A Mission

We are looking for a passionate intern eager to leverage data analysis and processing techniques to support major rail infrastructure projects and contribute to the safety and performance of tomorrow's transportation systems.

You will join a collaborative and innovative team working on data collected during testing campaigns carried out for Grand Paris Express projects. By transforming large volumes of raw test data into meaningful insights, you will play a key role in supporting engineering decisions, improving data quality, and enhancing the efficiency of analysis processes.

Your Role, Your Impact

  • Process, clean, and structure data collected during test bench campaigns to ensure reliability and usability.
  • Develop and automate data analysis tools and scripts to improve efficiency and consistency across testing activities.
  • Analyze test results to identify trends, anomalies, and key performance indicators that support engineering decision-making.
  • Create reports and visualizations that communicate findings in a clear, actionable, and understandable manner.
  • Ensure data consistency, traceability, and quality throughout the testing campaign while proposing improvements to existing data processing methodologies.

You'll work with skilled and committed teams solving complex challenges that shape the future of mobility, ensuring seamless integration between engineering expertise, data analysis, and operational needs.

What You Bring

  • Currently pursuing a Master's degree (Bac+5 equivalent) in Data Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in data processing, analysis, and interpretation.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, C, or C++.
  • Knowledge of data analysis tools such as MATLAB or equivalent environments.
  • Ability to produce clear and structured technical documentation.

You are analytical, curious, and comfortable tackling complex technical challenges. You also enjoy collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and communicating technical results to different stakeholders.

How Success Is Measured

  • Timely delivery of reliable data analyses, reports, and automated processing tools.
  • Quality and accuracy of the data processing methods developed.
  • Ability to identify meaningful trends, anomalies, and performance indicators from large data sets.
  • Effective collaboration with system engineers and project stakeholders.
  • Contribution to the continuous improvement of data processing and analysis workflows.

Alstom, A Great Place to Grow

  • Participate in major transportation projects contributing to the future of urban mobility.
  • Develop expertise in data processing, automation, reporting, and engineering data analysis.
  • Gain hands-on experience working with real-world data generated during large-scale test campaigns.
  • Collaborate with experienced system engineers and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Build valuable skills in technical communication, problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making within a leading industrial organization.

Duration: 6 months
Start Date: ideally from March 2027 (adaptable according to academic constraints).

You do not need to be passionate about the railway industry to thrive with us. We guarantee that, when you travel on one of our trains with your family or friends, you will be proud to have contributed to it.

As an international company, we ensure equal opportunities and value diversity across each of the 63 countries in which we operate. We are committed to providing an inclusive work environment where everyone can thrive, be respected, and fully develop their potential.
