We file this job under Analyst, by the work the posting describes.
Analysts answer business questions with data. They pull numbers with SQL, build reports and dashboards, and explain what changed and why to the people making decisions.
Most postings ask for SQL, spreadsheets, a dashboard tool such as Tableau or Power BI, and clear writing.
Unlike a data scientist, an analyst mostly explains what happened rather than building models that predict what will.
With a career at The Home Depot, you can be yourself and also be part of something bigger.
Position Purpose:
The Lead Analyst will stand up data governance and data quality processes across the organization’s data products. This is an individual-contributor role for someone who can build structure where little exists today — defining how changes to data definitions, schemas, and pipelines are proposed, reviewed, and communicated, and partnering directly with Data Product and Engineering teams to prioritize and resolve data quality issues.A core focus of the role is designing and building an automated audit process that continuously monitors data quality across data products, detecting and flagging issues proactively rather than relying on manual review. You will also establish and own the communication channels that keep stakeholders informed of upcoming changes, active issues, and resolution status. Success means these processes are adopted well beyond your own team, driven through structured frameworks, automation, and strong cross-functional relationships with teams outside your direct authority.
