Demand for Analyst roles

New Analyst postings at the employers we follow are up 18% over the last 5 weeks compared with the 5 before.

Weekly new Analyst postings at the same employers, from the week of August 17 to the week of October 26. The fewest in a week was 965, the most 1,385, and the latest week had 1,354.

Counted from the hiring pages we’ve followed for at least five weeks, so employers we add don’t look like growth. Updated weekly.

About the role

We file this job under Analyst, by the work the posting describes.

Analysts answer business questions with data. They pull numbers with SQL, build reports and dashboards, and explain what changed and why to the people making decisions.

Most postings ask for SQL, spreadsheets, a dashboard tool such as Tableau or Power BI, and clear writing.

Unlike a data scientist, an analyst mostly explains what happened rather than building models that predict what will.

ON’s patented AI UPS™ is a medium-voltage UPS that serves as a firewall, protecting the data center from the grid, and the grid from the data center. With multiple gigawatts currently under construction, we are enabling grid-safe data centers.

ON.energy is seeking a PMO Reporting Analyst to support our Product and Program Management organization. ON.energy builds integrated power systems (battery storage, UPS, and energy management controls) that sit between data centers and the grid, and we are growing fast. This role owns the setup, structure, and reporting of our work in Azure DevOps (ADO). For the first six months and beyond, the focus is hands-on: building and cross-linking boards across product and program teams, then turning that data into clear dashboards and reports that program and product leadership use to plan and make decisions. The ideal candidate enjoys bringing order to messy data, is comfortable configuring tools themselves, and can explain what the numbers mean to engineers and executives alike. This is a remote role.

Key Responsibilities

Azure DevOps Board Setup and Cross-Linking

  • Design and configure ADO boards, area paths, and iteration paths for product and program teams, aligned to our 6-week planning cycles.
  • Establish a consistent work item hierarchy (epics, features, and stories or tasks) and enforce it across teams.
  • Cross-link work across boards using parent/child, predecessor/successor, and related links so dependencies between product, hardware, software, controls, and operations teams are visible in one place.
  • Customize work item types, fields, states, and templates as needed, and document the standards so teams can follow them.

Reporting and Dashboards

  • Build shared ADO queries and dashboards that give program and product leadership a single view of progress, dependencies, and risks across teams.
  • Develop and maintain Power BI reports connected to ADO data (e.g., via Analytics views or OData) for portfolio, program, and cycle-level reporting.
  • Produce regular status reports for each 6-week cycle that connect team-level progress to program milestones and roadmap commitments.
  • Respond to ad hoc reporting requests from leadership, and turn recurring requests into self-serve dashboards.

Intake, Data Hygiene, and Traceability

  • Own the intake of requests raised into the Product and Program Management organization from engineering, operations, sales, field service, and customers, and make sure each one is captured as a properly structured work item.
  • Keep ADO data accurate and complete: no duplicates, orphaned items, missing links, or stale statuses.
  • Maintain clear traceability from each originating request through to the backlog item, program milestone, and delivery that addresses it.
  • Run regular data quality checks and work with team leads to close gaps.

Program Support

  • Support program managers in preparing for 6-week cycle planning and reviews, providing the data and views they need.
  • Help maintain milestone schedules and RAID (risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies) logs in ADO.
  • Train product and program managers on using the boards, queries, and dashboards, and gather feedback to improve them.
  • Identify process improvements as the organization matures its planning and delivery practices.

Required Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of experience in a PMO, project coordination, reporting, or business analyst role supporting technical or engineering teams.
  • Hands-on experience configuring Azure DevOps Boards: area and iteration paths, work item hierarchies, links, and board settings. Comparable admin experience in Jira will be considered if you can show how it translates.
  • Strong skill building ADO queries (including tree and direct-link queries) and dashboards.
  • Experience building reports and dashboards in Power BI or a similar BI tool.
  • Strong Excel skills and a careful, detail-oriented approach to data quality.
  • Ability to work with program managers, engineers, and leadership to understand what they need to see, and to present data clearly and concisely.
  • Self-directed and comfortable working remotely in a fast-growing company where processes are still being built.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Azure DevOps administration experience, including process customization (inherited process templates, custom fields and work item types).
  • Experience connecting Power BI to Azure DevOps through Analytics views or OData feeds.
  • Familiarity with agile, Scrum, or Kanban concepts, as the organization may adopt these practices over time.
  • Exposure to hardware, energy, manufacturing, or other engineering-driven environments.
  • Experience with SQL, Power Query, or DAX.
  • Fluency in Spanish is a strong plus.
