Demand for Analyst roles

New Analyst postings at the employers we follow are up 19% over the last 5 weeks compared with the 5 before.

Each bar is one week of new postings. The darkest bars are the last 5 weeks.

Counted from the hiring pages we’ve followed for at least five weeks, so employers we add don’t look like growth. Updated weekly.

About the role

We file this job under Analyst, by the work the posting describes.

Analysts answer business questions with data. They pull numbers with SQL, build reports and dashboards, and explain what changed and why to the people making decisions.

Most postings ask for SQL, spreadsheets, a dashboard tool such as Tableau or Power BI, and clear writing.

Unlike a data scientist, an analyst mostly explains what happened rather than building models that predict what will.

  • Help develop, improve, or validate reports and dashboards using tools such as Oracle Analytics Cloud and Power BI.
  • Analyze data for trends, exceptions, and opportunities to improve data quality or business processes.
  • Complete a summer project with a practical deliverable, such as a dashboard, reporting enhancement, data quality analysis, or process improvement recommendation.
  • You'll learn how enterprise applications and analytics support real manufacturing and supply chain decisions. You'll also gain experience working with IT and business teams and leave with a completed project you can discuss in future interviews.
