About the role

We file this job under Data Scientist, by the work the posting describes.

Data scientists use statistics and models to answer harder questions, such as whether a change worked, what demand will look like next quarter, or which customers are likely to leave.

Postings usually ask for Python or R, SQL, statistics, experiment design and common machine learning methods.

Unlike an ML engineer, a data scientist's main output is often an analysis or a first model, not software running inside a product.

## What you’ll do: Eaton announced, on June 11, 2026, the intent to combine its Mobility Group (including both the Vehicle and eMobility segments) with a new company. We expect to complete this process by the end of the first half of 2027. The compensation and benefits that will initially be offered for this position are based on Eaton's plans, programs and practices. If you are offered and accept this position and are actively employed by the Mobility Group when the transaction closes, the new company will provide further details to employees concerning compensation and benefits at that time. "The Centre for Intelligent Power located at Eaton India’s Innovation Centre in Pune and Eaton’s global headquarters in Dublin, applies data science to transform all aspects of our company. We’re working on solving the technical challenges of today’s digital world, while developing ground-breaking technology that’s going to power the next generation of futuristic products and services. We’re continuing to expand our organization and we are excited to announce that we are recruiting a Senior Data Scientist to join our team. The Senior Data Scientist will majorly collaborate with Eaton's Mobility product group to develop new data-science based product features. The features will primarily address emergent use cases in the mobility and automotive domains. The successful candidate will be expected to analyse requirements to drive the research and development of Machine Learning techniques to production of the features and monitoring after. In addition, the candidate will be expected to understand and consider system constraints – especially constraints related to implementing algorithms on resource-constrained platforms. This position will be part of the planned Mobility Spin-off."
