Every day, our machine learning systems optimize campaign delivery, budget allocation, audience targeting, and real-time bidding decisions, helping advertisers maximize return on investment while reaching the right travelers at the right moment. Unlike many media agencies which rely solely on third party platforms to run advertising campaigns, Amadeus has created its own proprietary advertising technology stack. This enables us to tackle unique use cases, leverage proprietary travel data, and deliver highly targeted campaigns at global scale. Built on a modern microservices architecture, the platform leverages technologies like Golang, Scala, Python, GraphQL, Apache Airflow, Redis, PostgreSQL. It reaches 300k transactions per second, relying on a petabyte-scale Google BigQuery data warehouse, an innovative AI running up to 500k predictions per second and is hosted on GCP (Google Cloud Platform) in 4 different regions across the world. Our machine learning models are developed using Python, TensorFlow, Keras, LightGBM, and additional frameworks. Summary of the role
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business and product challenges into data-driven solutions. - Strong software engineering fundamentals with production experience in Python and SQL. - Experience deploying, operating, and monitoring machine learning systems in production environments.

Job Title

Senior Data Scientist - Advertising division

As part of Amadeus Hospitality, the main objective of the Advertising division is to drive demand and boost client market shares by advertising their products in all the possible mediums and channels (web searches, web, social, GDS, mobile). Our customers are hotels who aim to attract more guests, cities or regions who want to attract more visitors as well as airlines who strive to attract more travelers.

Over the years, Amadeus has built a leading data-driven travel advertising platform complemented by strategic partnerships with advertising giants (Google, Facebook, Microsoft, … to name a few), that can reach billions of travelers globally every day. As our business continues to grow rapidly, we are looking for curious, driven, and innovative individuals who want to solve complex problems and help shape the future of travel advertising.

As a Senior Data Scientist, you will join the Bidder & Platform Optimization team, which owns the end-to-end lifecycle of machine learning solutions powering our advertising platform. From problem definition and experimentation to production deployment and monitoring, you will take ownership of machine learning solutions that directly influence how millions of advertising decisions are made every day and how client budgets are invested across global travel advertising campaigns.

Focused on automation and optimization, you will work closely with Data Engineers, Software Engineers, Product Managers, and other stakeholders to transform business challenges into scalable machine learning solutions integrated across our advertising platform, including our real-time bidding systems, campaign management tools, and data platform.

You will contribute from the early stages of ideation and research, helping shape product direction, identify opportunities for innovation, and propose robust technical solutions to complex business problems. You will also have significant influence on the technical direction of our optimization and machine learning roadmap.

You will operate in an environment that combines large-scale data, real-time decision making, and rapid experimentation, allowing you to see the direct impact of your work on product performance and customer outcomes.

What you'll do

  • Design, build, and continuously improve machine learning and statistical models that power audience targeting, real-time bidding, campaign optimization, and budget allocation across our advertising platform.

  • Research and develop advanced optimization strategies, combining AI and classical machine learning techniques to maximize campaign performance, bidding efficiency, and business impact.

  • Forecast supply and demand dynamics to improve advertising decision-making and budget utilization.

  • Design experimentation frameworks and success metrics, using A/B testing and data-driven analysis to evaluate and continuously improve model performance.

  • Deploy machine learning solutions into production and establish robust monitoring, feedback loops, and model governance practices to ensure long-term reliability.

  • Collaborate closely with Data Engineers and Software Engineers to build and enhance scalable data pipelines, streaming systems, and machine learning infrastructure.

  • Partner with Product Managers and business stakeholders to identify opportunities, shape solutions, and translate business challenges into impactful data science initiatives.

  • Lead technical discussions, influence product and data science roadmaps, and drive the adoption of best practices across the organization.

  • Mentor and support other data scientists through technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and collaborative problem solving.

Who we are looking for

  • Solid understanding in statistics, experimentation, machine learning, and data wrangling, including model validation and performance evaluation.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business and product challenges into data-driven solutions.

  • Strong software engineering fundamentals with production experience in Python and SQL.

  • Experience deploying, operating, and monitoring machine learning systems in production environments.

  • A track record of successfully delivering complex projects from concept to production with a strong sense of ownership.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to thrive in cross-functional environments.

  • Curiosity, pragmatism, and a passion for using data and experimentation to drive decisions.

  • Commitment to quality, reliability, and correctness.

Nice to have

  • Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and BigQuery.

  • Experience with machine learning applications in programmatic advertising, ad tech, or related optimization domains.

  • Experience building or operating real-time machine learning systems.

  • Familiarity with large-scale experimentation and online optimization techniques.
