About the role

We file this job under Data Scientist, by the work the posting describes.

Data scientists use statistics and models to answer harder questions, such as whether a change worked, what demand will look like next quarter, or which customers are likely to leave.

Postings usually ask for Python or R, SQL, statistics, experiment design and common machine learning methods.

Unlike an ML engineer, a data scientist's main output is often an analysis or a first model, not software running inside a product.

Hi, we're Oscar. We're hiring a Senior Data Scientist, Lucie to join our Data Team.

Oscar is the first health insurance company built around a full stack technology platform and a relentless focus on serving our members. We started Oscar in 2012 to create the kind of health insurance company we would want for ourselves—one that behaves like a doctor in the family.

About the role:

This is a builder-focused role: the ideal candidate is energized by working in an ambiguous space and transforming it into well-engineered, validated, and maintainable production systems. You will own projects end-to-end—scoping problems with stakeholders, designing the technical approach, implementing pipelines and models, validating outputs against existing processes, and iterating after launch.

You will report into the Director, Data Science
