About the role

We file this job under Analyst, by the work the posting describes.

Analysts answer business questions with data. They pull numbers with SQL, build reports and dashboards, and explain what changed and why to the people making decisions.

Most postings ask for SQL, spreadsheets, a dashboard tool such as Tableau or Power BI, and clear writing.

Unlike a data scientist, an analyst mostly explains what happened rather than building models that predict what will.

Do you enjoy advanced data analysis and solving complex problems? Are you motivated by finding robust, innovative solutions and applying sound banking principles in a data‑driven environment? We are looking for a (Senior) Quantitative Risk Analyst to join the Credit Risk Data Analytics team, recognised for its professionalism, strong expertise, and high delivery standards. We have an ambitious roadmap for data analytics, tools and strategic initiatives. Together with our colleagues across Nordea, we are shaping the future of banking.

About our team

Meet the Credit Risk Data Analytics team. Our role is to add value to Nordea and our customers by providing insights into credit risk data, assessing the capital impact of new models and regulatory changes, and improving data quality and transparency.

Our team develops analytical tools and infrastructure, optimises processes, and provides subject matter expertise across our data areas. Our work supports financial calculations and helps bank advisors make sound credit decisions.

Collaboration. Ownership. Passion. Courage. These are the values that guide us in how we work and how we make decisions – and that we imagine you share with us.

What you’ll be doing

Main responsibilities in this role:

  • Assessing the capital impact of new models and regulatory changes;
  • Analysing credit risk data, identifying data quality issues and conducting root-cause analysis;
  • Developing and improving data quality tools;
  • Creating data visualisations and insights to support decision-making and stakeholder discussions;
  • Optimising processes and driving strategic initiatives within your areas of expertise;
  • Acting as a subject matter expert for specific data areas and responding to ad-hoc information requests;
  • Providing clear and structured status updates to relevant stakeholders;
  • Preparing analyses, reports and documentation for senior management and external or regulatory reporting;
  • Acting, when required, as a bridge between business and IT to ensure a shared understanding and effective collaboration.

Who you are

This is the right role for you if you bring:

  • Proven ability to operate effectively in complex, fast‑paced environments, adapting priorities while maintaining delivery focus;
  • Strong structuring and coordination capabilities, with experience managing multiple parallel workstreams and end‑to‑end deliveries;
  • High level of independence and accountability, combined with the ability to work effectively across teams and senior stakeholder groups;
  • Advanced analytical skills with the capability to assess complex data, models, and processes, and translate findings into clear insights and recommendations;
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with confidence to engage, challenge, and influence stakeholders, and to translate business needs into clear requirements for IT and other technical teams;
  • A proactive and solution‑oriented mindset, with a genuine drive for continuous improvement, knowledge development, and contributing to the long‑term capability of the team.

Your background and skills include:

  • A degree in finance, economics, engineering, physics, mathematics or a closely related quantitative field; relevant professional experience may also be considered;
  • Foundational understanding of credit risk concepts, with an interest in developing expertise in credit risk data and analytics;
  • Experience analysing data in structured database environments, through work, studies or relevant projects;
  • Familiarity with SQL, SAS, Python or similar analytical and programming languages; practical experience is an advantage;
  • Strong analytical skills and an ability to work with complex information, draw conclusions and communicate findings clearly.
