Where the posting names them
- You have owned the solution design on a larger SAP analytics project or grown work with an existing client or played a real part in pre-sales. These are what we look for at our Principal level. - Time on Snowflake, Databricks, Fabric or Azure. Awareness is enough. - Migrating clients off SAP BW or BusinessObjects, integration tools such as Fivetran, SNP Glue, Theobald Xtract or SAP Data Services, or SAP Analytics Cloud or Power BI.
Mission and Vision Snap Analytics is a data analytics and AI consultancy. We design and build modern data platforms for organisations across the UK, Europe and the US, and we specialise in SAP, Snowflake and Databricks. A lot of the world’s most trusted business data lives in SAP: finance, sales, procurement and supply chain. Too often it is locked inside ageing, expensive systems that are hard to use alongside everything else. We help clients get that data onto platforms where they can make faster decisions and run AI across SAP and non-SAP data together.
Founded in 2019, with around 175 people across offices in the UK, India and South Africa. Our SAP practice is growing. We are starting projects to stand up a new data platform on SAP Business Data Cloud and to migrate a client from SAP BW to Databricks. In the next 6 to 12 months, we want to build our SAP data capability in India, so our Pune teams have SAP expertise on hand rather than relying on the UK.
This role exists because our Pune data teams increasingly work on projects built on SAP data, and they need someone close by who knows SAP inside out and has kept up with where it is going. Today that knowledge mostly sits in the UK, and by the time a question reaches us it is often too late. You will report to our India Head of Technology & Delivery in Pune and work closely with our SAP Head of Practice in the UK. Day to day, you will work with our Snowflake and Databricks engineers, the developers on your projects, and UK and European client teams. Responsibilities & Expectations
- Design and deliver SAP features and components within a project’s architecture, owning them from design to production. If bought in at Principal level (DOE), you will own the full SAP solution design. - Extract SAP source data and rebuild it as analytics on a modern platform, sometimes inside SAP (Business Data Cloud, Datasphere) and sometimes as the SAP data expert on a Databricks or Snowflake build. - Lead the India-based developers on the SAP side of larger analytics projects, so they deliver with confidence.
By 6 months, you will... Have delivered SAP features into production, led and coached India-based developers on the SAP side of a project, and become the person our Pune teams come to early. You will own the design of the SAP features within an agreed architecture, with full solution design once at Principal level. - Work only in SAP. A real share of your time will be spent helping build on non-SAP platforms. - Work UK hours or a night shift. You will work the same hours as our Pune team.
Skills and Experience | Essential - Strong, hands-on SAP BW or BW/4HANA experience, including data modelling. - A solid understanding of SAP as a source system (ECC or S/4HANA) and at least one functional area, such as Finance, Sales, Procurement or Supply Chain.

About the role

We file this job under Data Engineer, by the work the posting describes.

Data engineers build and run the pipelines that copy data out of apps and outside services into a warehouse or lake, and fix them when a source changes or a load fails.

Expect SQL, Python, a cloud platform, a scheduler such as Airflow, and often tools for large data such as Spark or Kafka.

An analytics engineer works one step later, turning the raw data a data engineer lands into clean tables people can query.

TL;DR

Senior SAP Data & Analytics Consultant / Senior or Principal level, depending on your experience / Pune, hybrid (3 days per week on-site), 11:00 to 20:00 IST

For an SAP BW/4HANA consultant who keeps up with Datasphere and BDC, designs what they build, and wants to lead developers and help build a team. Not right if you want a pure build role or an all-SAP world.

The mission: become the go-to SAP data expert for our Pune data teams and help clients move their trusted SAP data onto modern platforms.

Mission and Vision

Snap Analytics is a data analytics and AI consultancy.

When we succeed, our clients switch off costly legacy systems, their teams stop waiting on reports, and their SAP data becomes something they can build on rather than work around.

Status and Goals

Founded in 2019
, with around 175 people across offices in the UK, India and South Africa.

Where we are still figuring things out: we have one SAP consultant in Pune today, so this person will help shape how SAP work runs there. Early client discovery and commercial conversations are led from the UK for now.

Hours and Location

Location:
our central Pune office. You will need to live in or near Pune and have the right to work in India.

Working pattern: hybrid, following our Pune team’s standard office pattern of 3 days per week in the office, Monday and Tuesday being mandatory, and the 3rd day being flexible depending on yours and the teams needs.

Hours: 11:00 to 20:00 IST, the same as our Pune data engineering team. This gives a few hours’ overlap with our UK team each day. It is not a night shift.

Non-negotiable: being in the office and online when the Pune team is, because a big part of this role is being there for them.

Travel: potential client visits in Europe or elsewhere are possible, but they are the exception rather than a regular part of the job.

Role Impact

This role exists because our Pune data teams increasingly work on projects built on SAP data, and they need someone close by who knows SAP inside out and has kept up with where it is going. Today that knowledge mostly sits in the UK, and by the time a question reaches us it is often too late.

You will report to our India Head of Technology & Delivery in Pune and work closely with our SAP Head of Practice in the UK. Day to day, you will work with our Snowflake and Databricks engineers, the developers on your projects, and UK and European client teams.

Responsibilities & Expectations

What You WILL Do
  • Design and deliver SAP features and components within a project’s architecture, owning them from design to production. If bought in at Principal level (DOE), you will own the full SAP solution design.

  • Extract SAP source data and rebuild it as analytics on a modern platform, sometimes inside SAP (Business Data Cloud, Datasphere) and sometimes as the SAP data expert on a Databricks or Snowflake build.

  • Lead the India-based developers on the SAP side of larger analytics projects, so they deliver with confidence.

  • Be the person our Pune data teams come to early when SAP gets difficult, across all our accounts.

  • Support discovery led by our UK team, then grow into conversations with clients about their SAP roadmap and where we can help them further.

  • Coach and develop people across our data platforms team, with line management as we grow an SAP team in India.
What You Will NOT Do
  • Lead sales or initial client discovery from day one. Our UK team owns these for now, but spotting and growing opportunities with your clients is part of how you’d progress.

  • Own every architecture decision from day one at Senior level. You will own the design of the SAP features within an agreed architecture, with full solution design once at Principal level.

  • Work only in SAP. A real share of your time will be spent helping build on non-SAP platforms.

  • Work UK hours or a night shift. You will work the same hours as our Pune team.

Timeline Expectations

In your first 30 days, you will...

Get to know the Pune data platforms team and our UK SAP practice, learn how we deliver, and get up to speed on the projects you will join. You will start answering the SAP questions the team brings you.

By 3 months, you will...

Likely have supported a UK-led discovery and helped turn it into a design the client signs off and be designing and delivering your first SAP features on a live project.

By 6 months, you will...

Have delivered SAP features into production, led and coached India-based developers on the SAP side of a project, and become the person our Pune teams come to early. You will also have got hands-on with Databricks or Snowflake on live work, if you had not already.

By 12 months, you will...

Hopefully be leading the SAP side of larger projects from Pune, having regular conversations with clients about their SAP roadmap, spotting where we can help them further, and helping shape how our SAP team in India grows.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

Skills and Experience | Essential
  • Strong, hands-on SAP BW or BW/4HANA experience, including data modelling.

  • A solid understanding of SAP as a source system (ECC or S/4HANA) and at least one functional area, such as Finance, Sales, Procurement or Supply Chain.

  • A thorough understanding of SAP Datasphere and SAP Business Data Cloud. Delivery experience is great, but certification and structured self-study count too.

  • You have designed and delivered SAP features or components yourself, not only built to someone else’s design.

  • Experience leading, mentoring or guiding a development team.

  • Clear written and spoken English, and the confidence to talk with clients about their SAP plans.

Skills and Experience | Beneficial
  • You have delivered a Datasphere or BDC project end to end, ideally as lead consultant.

  • You have owned the solution design on a larger SAP analytics project or grown work with an existing client or played a real part in pre-sales. These are what we look for at our Principal level.

  • Time on Snowflake, Databricks, Fabric or Azure. Awareness is enough.

  • Migrating clients off SAP BW or BusinessObjects, integration tools such as Fivetran, SNP Glue, Theobald Xtract or SAP Data Services, or SAP Analytics Cloud or Power BI.

  • Recent SAP Certifications in SAP Business Data Cloud, Datasphere, SAP Analytics Cloud, SAP Hana Cloud

If you meet most of the essentials and the work excites you, please apply. We do not necessarily set a minimum number of years.

This role is a great fit if you...
  • Enjoy being the person others come to, and like explaining SAP to people who are not SAP specialists.

  • Want to help build something: a capability and a team, not just a set of deliverables.

  • Are curious about where SAP data is heading and like the puzzle of making it work on modern platforms.

  • Take things forward yourself rather than waiting to be told and are comfortable when the path is not fully mapped.

This role is probably NOT right for you if...
  • You want a pure build role, with no team to lead or people to support.

  • You want to stay in an all-SAP world.

  • You want to lead client sales and business development from day one.

  • You want a large, established practice with narrow, fully mapped roles.

  • You are looking for a fully remote role. Being with the Pune team matters here.

Compensation

Salary: Confirmed during the later stages of the process depending on the seniority banding you fall into. We will inform you early in the process if your expectations won’t be feasible to ensure no one’s time is wasted.

Variable pay: Loyalty bonus at the end of your first, second and third years of service.

Benefits:
  • Health insurance: Group Mediclaim cover through Care Health Insurance, with a ₹7,00,000 family floater covering you, your spouse, up to four children and your parents. Pre-existing conditions are covered from day one, and it includes an annual health check and OPD cover for dental, vision and pharmacy.

  • Accident insurance: Worldwide Group Personal Accident cover of up to 3x your annual CTC for accidental death or permanent total disability, with education support for up to two children.

  • Provident Fund: Snap contributes 12% of your basic salary to your EPF (capped at ₹1,800 a month), and you can add voluntary contributions.

  • Loyalty bonus: An annual loyalty bonus, paid on each of your first three work anniversaries, with the amount linked to your joining grade.

  • Annual leave: 20 days a year plus 10 public holidays. It rises by a day every two years of service (up to 23 days), and you can buy up to 5 extra days a year.

  • Family leave: Up to 26 weeks of paid maternity leave, paid adoption leave, and two weeks of paid paternity leave, with support for flexible working when you return.

  • Volunteering: One paid day a year to volunteer for a charity or cause you care about.

  • Social Club: Monthly team events, from team dinners to surfing, funded by a ₹500 monthly contribution that Snap matches (membership is optional).

Our Commitment to Inclusion

We actively encourage applications from people who are underrepresented in our industry. If you are unsure whether you meet every point above, please apply anyway. We would rather hear from you.
