New ML Engineer postings at the employers we follow are up 12% over the last 5 weeks compared with the 5 before.

We file this job under ML Engineer, by the work the posting describes.
ML engineers put machine learning models into products. They write the code that trains, ships, serves and monitors models so a recommendation or prediction works for real users.
Postings ask for strong Python and software engineering, a framework such as PyTorch, cloud services, and more and more often experience with large language models.
A data scientist often works out which model to build; an ML engineer makes it run reliably in production.
The government has no code for ML engineers, so these figures are for the closest group, computer and information research scientists.

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Staff Member to conduct research at the intersection of super intelligence (SI), machine learning (ML), and computational biology. The successful candidate will apply and adapt state-of-the-art SI/ML approaches to understand host-response dynamics in complex biological systems. Research will focus on integrating large-scale multiomic datasets, including bulk, single-cell, spatial, and multimodal data, from animal models and human cohorts to identify molecular programs associated with disease progression, immune responses, and biological resilience. The candidate will leverage modern machine learning approaches, including deep learning, self-supervised learning, and biological foundation models, to generate biologically meaningful insights from diverse datasets and develop predictive models that generalize across biological systems.
This position is in the Integrative Multi-Omics Group and offers the opportunity to work under the guidance of senior scientists on high-dimensional biological data at scale in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
