About the role

We file this job under Analyst, by the work the posting describes.

Analysts answer business questions with data. They pull numbers with SQL, build reports and dashboards, and explain what changed and why to the people making decisions.

Most postings ask for SQL, spreadsheets, a dashboard tool such as Tableau or Power BI, and clear writing.

Unlike a data scientist, an analyst mostly explains what happened rather than building models that predict what will.

The ECI Group's Gulf Coast Professional Services Network  is seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst to support the STUSCO Trading Operations Terminal Inventory Management initiative across North America. This is Houston based contract position has an estimated duration of 7 weeks from November 13, 2026 - December 31, 2026. Note: You must be a US Citizen or Permanent US Resident to qualify for this position.

The Senior Business Analyst will act as a key interface between US/North America Trading Operations stakeholders, Americas Commercial Operations Transformation, IDT functional teams, terminal stakeholders and the external vendor, DTN.
The role will focus on eliciting and translating business, data, integration and reporting requirements into implementable solutions, with particular emphasis on terminal inventory data, vendor dashboards and the future internal reporting capability through the EDP environment.
As discussed during the requirement call, the primary initial responsibility will be to understand requirements from operators and schedulers, translate these into the vendor-provided dashboard and subsequently support the reporting capability built from curated EDP data. The BA will also support testing to validate both data quality and dashboard functionality.

Project Context & Scope
The initiative covers the STUSCO Trading Operations area and is focused on improving the aggregation, standardisation, integration and reporting of terminal and pipeline information across North America.
The solution is planned to use DTN's Terminal Inventory Management System (TIMS) to aggregate terminal and pipeline data including:

  • Opening and closing inventory balances
  • Pipeline receipts

  • Other relevant terminal inventory information
The vendor will aggregate data from external supply-point terminals and pipelines and make this information available to Shell through APIs and dashboard capabilities.
The broader solution will convert relevant data into the PIDX (Petroleum Industry Data Exchange) standard for ingestion into the Terminal Cockpit and PDX EDP environments, ultimately enabling internal reporting and dashboard capabilities.
The delivery is structured across multiple phases:
  • Phase 1 – 2026: Contracting and implementation of the external SaaS DTN Terminal Inventory Management System (TIMS), initially leveraging the vendor's dashboard capability.
  • Phases 2 & 3 – 2027: Integration of terminal data into Terminal Cockpit and PDX and enablement of internal dashboard/reporting capabilities.
  • The overall scope covers approximately 239 terminals across North America, comprising 57 Phase 1 terminals plus additional terminal populations planned for subsequent phases.
