How you'll make impact

You’ll own the design and delivery of data platform capabilities that turn structured and unstructured information into trusted, reusable context for people and AI systems.

• Build and evolve scalable data infrastructure across technologies such as Databricks, ClickHouse, Spark, and Kafka, alongside real-time analytics, knowledge retrieval and indexing, model infrastructure, and AI interaction history.

• Establish the evaluation, annotation, feedback, governance, permission, and freshness frameworks needed to operate AI reliably at global financial scale.

• Partner with engineering, data, and AI teams to make Airwallex’s ecosystem agent-ready, enabling natural-language data exploration, real-time investigation of business drivers, and secure access to the context and capabilities required to support decisions and execute workflows.

• Influence technical direction, raise engineering standards, and help take ambiguous, technically complex problems from definition through delivery with substantial ownership.

This is an in-office role — you’ll be in our Singapore office five days a week.

What we're looking for

Essentials

• Experience designing, building, and operating scalable data platforms or data-intensive backend systems in production.

• Strong software engineering skills in a language such as Python, Java, or Scala.

• Hands-on experience with distributed data processing and streaming technologies such as Spark and Kafka.

• Experience working with data warehouses, lakehouses, analytical databases, or data infrastructure at scale.

• Strong understanding of data quality, governance, access control, observability, and platform reliability.

• A track record of taking ambiguous, technically complex problems from definition through delivery with substantial ownership.

• Ability to influence technical direction, raise engineering standards, and work effectively across engineering, data, and AI teams.

Preferred

• Experience with Databricks, ClickHouse, real-time analytics, knowledge retrieval, search, indexing, or model infrastructure.

• Experience building data or platform capabilities that support machine learning, generative AI, or agentic workflows.

• Experience designing evaluation, feedback, annotation, provenance, or freshness systems for AI and data products.

• Experience working in fintech, payments, or another regulated environment.

The Knowledge Platform sits at the foundation of Airwallex’s Data and AI strategy. We are evolving traditional data infrastructure into knowledge infrastructure—turning structured and unstructured information into trusted, reusable context that helps people and AI systems make better decisions and take action.

You’ll build the platform end to end, from core technologies such as Databricks, Clickhouse, Spark, and Kafka to real-time analytics, knowledge retrieval and indexing, model infrastructure, agent capabilities, and AI interaction history. You’ll also develop the evaluation, annotation, feedback, governance, permission, and freshness frameworks required to operate AI reliably at global financial scale.
