Critical Facilities Engineer / Data Center Engineer

Verisign enables the security, stability, and resiliency of key internet infrastructure and services, including providing root zone maintainer services, operating two of the 13 global internet root servers, and providing registration services and authoritative resolution for the .com and .net top-level domains, which support the majority of global e-commerce.

As a Critical Facilities Engineer, you will work on a team responsible for facility planning, design, installation and upgrading of all Critical Facilities Infrastructure Systems for the Verisign Critical Facility network.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide logistical and engineering support for data center services, tracking and analyzing space, power and cooling requirements for data center applications
  • Project planning, reporting and vendor management capabilities
  • Produce commissioning, certification and testing checklists, certifying facility life safety systems, security, power and environmental systems
  • Verify that all relevant systems are wired in and supervised by our Network Operations Center (NOC)
  • Review and interpret electrical, mechanical and architectural drawings, review As-Built drawings, produce Statements of Work, manage contracts, obtain and review bids for equipment vital for maintenance & construction projects
  • Participate in site project surveys, identifying structural, power, and HVAC, security, and 0perations facility requirements
  • 7PM-7AM shift rotation

Requirements:

  • AS degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical or Telecommunications), Technical School, or equivalent job-related experience
  • 5+ years in the telecom or related industry experience, with emphasis on facility engineering maintenance, power and mechanical systems engineering & operations
  • Ability to effectively communicate and interface with internal and external personnel
  • Possess a level of understanding of the technology and functional to properly identify and prioritize risks and issues
  • Solid understanding of various power and mechanical HVAC systems, 480 v 3 phase utility power, crucial diesel engine generator systems, critical UPS systems and - 48 volt dc power plant systems and chiller plants so as to be able to operate and determine \ forecasted loads for the purpose of maintaining, sizing and designing power and mechanical systems required to support critical facilities & data centers. Plan and engineer complete power and HVAC systems to construct new and expand existing facilities within the Verisign network
  • Prefer knowledge and experience in the use of Building Management Systems (BMS) and Energy Power Management Systems (EPMS)
