Major League Baseball is hiring a
Senior Accountant

Key member of the General Accounting group responsible for account reconciliations, month-end general ledger close, bank reconciliations.   The Senior Accountant will assist in the preparation of monthly journal entries, daily cash files, bank reconciliations, approval of invoices and general ledger analysis.       

  • Responsible for month-end close and account variance analysis.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries (Payroll, Fixed Assets, Prepaid Expenses).
  • Assist with year-end audit, prepare supporting documentation, and address auditors' questions.
  • Assist with process documentation for new system implementation.
  • Approve invoices (high volume) daily and work with the Accounts Payable department to ensure proper coding.
  • Maintain master coding in General Ledger.
  • Update monthly account schedules and ensure records are up to date. 
  • Prepare daily cash analysis.
  • Bank reconciliations.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to build efficiencies. 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • 5+ years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting (CPA Preferred)
  • Working knowledge of GAAP.
  • Strong organizational and stress management skills
  • Able to work effectively under pressures of management deadlines
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Must have strong Excel skills.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills
  • Self-starter, detail-oriented and a team player
  • Able to work effectively under pressures of management deadlines

Per the NYC pay transparency law, the hiring range for this position is $95,000 to $115,000.

As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, skills and any other factors Major League Baseball (MLB) considers relevant to the hiring decision. In addition to your salary, MLB believes in providing a competitive compensation and benefits package for its employees.
